Prof. Darvesh Gopal, Chairperson, Professor of Political Science, is currently Head, Centre for Gandhi and Peace Studies, School of Social Sciences, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi. He has the distinction of being appointed as the first permanent faculty member in the School of Social Sciences, IGNOU. Prof. Gopal holds M. Phil and Ph.D Degrees in International Relations from the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and M.A (Political Science) from Karnataka University,Dharwad. He is trained in Distance Education at the Institute of Education, University of London in 1991, following which he served as a Visiting Fellow at the Open University, Milton Keynes, U.K
